When Rebecca was 19, she wrote a post for me called “Why I Didn’t Rebel.”
1,000,000 people saw it over the next month. Most viral thing to ever happen on this blog.
And so she was offered a book contract–and launched into a ton of research to find out the commonalities of teens who rebelled and teens did not.
She knows there are never any guarantees that your child will choose to do what’s right. But there are parenting practices that make it more likely–and less likely. And the scary thing is that the best parenting practices are often the exact opposite of what’s recommended in church!
It’s a super easy read. Rebecca has never raised a teen, so she’s not telling parents what to do. She’s just telling stories of other millennials and General Z kids, some who rebelled, and some who didn’t.
If we want to find out what teenagers want from parents, isn’t it time that we asked them?
