It’s been a busy week for me! My new book, 9 Thoughts That Can Change Your Marriage, was released on Tuesday.
And today I had to take both my girls in to get their wisdom teeth out, back to back.
Here’s a little video Katie made afterwards:
I have to go take care of them now, so no big blog post today!
But I did just pick the winners to my contest, and I’ll be contacting them today and announcing them tomorrow.
I’m also still getting a number of people emailing me receipts, so I’m starting ANOTHER contest where you can win bundles of books. Everyone who entered the first contest will be automatically entered, and then I’ll enter these other receipts, too! I’ll do that draw Sunday at midnight.
So if you’ve bought 9 Thoughts That Can Change Your Marriage, and you haven’t sent me your receipt yet, send it my way! I hope you win.
Gotta go make some soft food now!
HA HA HA!!! “Best moment of my life!” Oh boy. I bet the next day was not quite so fun. Went through this last year with my oldest, with BRACES as well (oh, that gauze gets tangled in all the wires – grrrr!) You get to be “Nurse Mom” for a few days.
(When they feel better, show them “David after the dentist” – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txqiwrbYGrs)

Hope your daughters are doing well and that they have a quick recovery. I keep checking my email anxiously hoping that I have won 🙂
Why the big desire, in North America, to remove wisdom teeth almost universally?
Fortunately I was born and brought up in England where this procedure was not by any means routine.
I had one such tooth removed when it became infected (in my 20s) but now in my 70s I still have 3 left which have never caused any trouble.
That’s pretty standard here in the US. I had mine removed in my 20s and 30s because they needed to come out. My three daughters had theirs removed in high school and college, mainly because they had worn/were wearing braces and since there was no room and the teeth were impacted anyway, they came out. My husband was told in his late teens that his would need to be removed but the dentist was wrong. My husband still has all of his and they’re all quite healthy. In fact, he’s one of the few patients our dentist has ever seen who actually has wisdom teeth! Then again, I tell my husband that he has the biggest mouth in the family! 🙂
I am not sure they are universally removed. Our dentist never recommended that we just remove ours, we had 5 kids. I did get mine removed as an adult because they were grown down into the bone and were creating discomfort and placing pressure on my other teeth.
It’s pretty standard here too (in South Africa) and everyone and their dog seems to have their wisdom teeth removed. As for me – I never had any. As in, I never, ever had any wisdom teeth (says a lot, I suppose… 😉 ) so I never have to worry about making that decision!
Hope your daughters are doing better now. My mom never had her wisdom teeth out and never had trouble. Dentists often recommend they be removed, but it isn’t always really needed. Still don’t have mine out either, although since my mouth is small and they aren’t straight, I might have to get them out at some point.
I’m curious about the winners of the contest. Did I miss something in the Josh Duggar post or today’s post?
We’re still waiting to hear from the person who won prize #2! If she doesn’t reply by Wednesday we’ll draw a new winner. But once she replies we can announce them all!
My sisters just got theirs out together, too! The older one is engaged to be married and wanted it done now! What a coincidence! Get better soon!
